The Nicker is a traditional knife popular in Bavaria and Austria that was originally intended as a hunting knife.
The name derives from the function of "nodding off" (abnicken) the wounded game, i.e. killing it with a stick between the neck vertebrae.
Nowadays, the Nicker is not only worn as a hunting knife, but also as a snack knife or traditional knife.
The Nicker comes without a pronounced hand protection.
In this specimen, the sambar horn had very nice fork marks, these should be preserved and so I continued them, like the structure of the sambar, on the ferrule.
